Missouri’s attorney general is threatening legal action against Kansas City’s mayor. A-G Andrew Bailey’s comments came in a letter posted on the “X” social media site Thursday night.

Mayor Quinton Lucas earlier this week had invited migrants who want to leave New York City and Denver shelters to come to Missouri to work, saying “All are welcome in Kansas City.”

Bailey’s letter told Lucas that it’s a felony in Missouri to knowingly transport an illegal alien and that he would take legal action against anyone who violates that statute. Lucas contends his invitation was for migrants who have gotten legal work permits and are lawfully in the country.

Bloomberg reports that the mayor says planned projects for Kansas City, including a Panasonic battery plant and a Meta data center, are expected to bring thousands of jobs to the area.
