4. A group of researchers from the University of Kansas were part of team that helped study a a fossil of a 308-million-year old spider found in Illinois. The goal of the analysis of Douglassarachne acanthopoda is to help paleontologists understand the variety of body plans that existed among arachnids and how these forms evolved or went extinct over time. I’m guessing some went extinct because man kept on stepping on them or setting them on fire.
