Today, San Diego is home to the Awesome. At 78-years old Bob Platt was in need of a kidney and was placed on the transplant list. With more than 100k people in this country currently waiting for a kidney, it was unlikely Bob would get his anytime soon. That was until his daughter stepped in. Erika decided she wanted to donate hers. At first, Dad was against it, but now he says everyday is Father’s Day thanks to the gift. Erika says that her gift wasn’t just about helping her dad to get better, it was also to make it so her kids could have their grandfather back in their lives. A selfless gift of more time – Erika THAT’S AWESOME.
