Today, the Awesome is in Texas and it’s a story that reminds us that not all heroes wear capes, some wear aprons. In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, Operation BBQ Relief has mobilized to Texas to provide meals to those affected by the storm, focusing initially on Lake Jackson. The organization plans to distribute between 10-thousand to 15-thousand meals daily, prioritizing first responders and search and rescue teams in the initial days. They’re coordinating their efforts with Texas state and emergency management to target areas with the greatest need. Since 2011, Operation BBQ Relief has served over 11-million meals across 36 states and the Bahamas. Taking care of first responders and strangers one pulled pork sandwich at a time….THAT’S AWESOME.
