A Valley Center man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run incident last year.

A Sedgwick County judge sentenced 23-year-old Chase Faimon to 30 months in prison.  Faimon pleaded guilty earlier this year to involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.    He was originally charged with first degree murder or in the alternative, second degree murder.

Police said 48-year-old Kristine Sheffield of Wichita was struck by a motorcycle as she was crossing the street at 11th and Broadway on February 20th, 2023.   Investigators later identified Faimon as the motorcycle rider.     While he was out on bond, Faimon was arrested again in May for felony racing, as a result of an investigation under the police department’s Stunt Rider Project.
