The Kansas Department of Transportation has started work on a project to realign a busy intersection in Derby.

The project is part of the K-15 Area Plan, and it will be constructed in several phases. The first phase, which affects the area of Nelson Dr. and Red Powell Dr., should be completed in March, depending on the weather.

There will be traffic impacts in the area during the construction process. Here are the impacts during Phase 1 of construction (see map):

• Red Powell Dr. will be one-way westbound from Johnson Dr. to K-15.
• K-15 traffic will not be able to access Red Powell Dr. Please use Buckner.
• Atwoods will only be accessible from Red Powell Dr.

Drivers are urged to stay alert and follow posted signs on all work zones.
