Two semis collided on Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County, killing one of the drivers.
The crash happened around 6:30 Wednesday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a semi had overturned on the passenger side in a westbound lane of the interstate, and a second semi tried to avoid hitting it, but it struck the undercarriage under the cab.
The driver of the first semi, 58-year-old David Bridgeforth of Trenton, New Jersey, was killed. The other driver, a 24-year-old Pennsylvania man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Westbound traffic on the interstate was closed north of Ellsworth for much of the day.
