Today, the AWESOME is in the Czech Republic. Harry Humason, a 99-year-old World War II Veteran who was part of General George Patton’s 3rd Army and helped liberate Europe from Germany, was invited to the Czech Republic for a special liberation day celebration. To make the trip, his granddaughter created a GoFundMe page. When donations fell short, they dug into his savings so Harry could make the trip. With funds exhausted, the trip almost fell short while in Europe until complete strangers started donating, meeting and surpassing the $20,000 goal. More meaningful than the donations might have been the messages like, “Dear Harry, we only gave a few dollars, but you gave us a future,” and THAT’S AWESOME.
