Today, I salute Veteran Mike Abkem. Mike did two tours in Iraq. It was that service to his country that resulted in his developing PTSD. His condition was unknown to him until he noticed symptoms of being fearful of going into crowds. Mike said sometimes he’d never go out, he would just stay home. With 5 of his 7 children still living at home, his PTSD was not only affecting him but also his family. Then came Scotty, a purebred English Lab, a service animal from K9’s For Warriors. The program, the dog, the classes, all provided at no cost. Mike says Scotty is special, and the experience has been life-changing. Enjoy your time with Scotty Mike and THANK YOU for your service.
