Today, the AWESOME is found in a cancer battle. Layne Horwich was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer at 100. While many her age may have opted out of surgery, the healthy centurian who played tennis till she was 92 chose surgery to avoid losing her hair because she enjoyed going to the beauty parlor every week. After a successful surgery, she avoided chemotherapy and radiation. She was even featured in an Estée Lauder TikTok video. Layne credits her longevity to an active, healthy lifestyle. Now 101, cancer-free, and still living independently, Horwich continues to inspire. She recently passed her driving test and enjoys spending time with her large and loving family, which includes three daughters, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Her message to women of all ages? Don’t ignore your health. Proving you’re never too old to inspire, Layne YOU’RE AWESOME.
