Today, I salute Army Veteran Randy Villanueva. Last week, leading up to the birthday of the U.S. Army, Randy completed a challenging and meaningful task. His 32-mile run was a symbolic journey with a purpose, to bring awareness to Veteran suicide and the need to support the mental health challenges that Veterans face. Randy said the experience was emotionally intense and deeply rewarding. He completed the journey carrying the “Chain of Hope,” a 19-link chain symbolizing the weight of the issue. Seventeen links represented the average number of U.S. veterans who die by suicide each day, while two more honored recent veteran suicides in his community. Thank you for advocating for Veterans, Randy, and THANK YOU for your service.
