Today, I salute Kansas Air Force Veteran Steve Parker. Steve enlisted 2 days after he graduated from high school at the age of 17. After basic and military police training, he was part of the law enforcement team at McConnell Air Force Base, but it all changed after 9/11. He went from law enforcement to base defense and was deployed to Oman and Qatar. Steve’s job was to establish all the security details for the first Red Cross flights bringing in humanitarian aid for the civilian populace. He now works for the Butler County Sheriff’s Office alongside his K-9 partner. Thank you for making us Kansas proud, Steve, and THANK YOU for your service.
