Today, I salute Army Veteran Mark Joos. In 2024, Mark was diagnosed with terminal blood cancer, and he is making the most of every day just like he’s been doing for the last 12 years with his partner Carla. While the diagnosis may have turned their world upside down, it only made the love they had for one another stronger. Recently, they celebrated their love and got married at the Iowa City VA Hospital chapel. It took about a week and a half to plan, and with the help of the staff at the VA, they made it happen.
