Today, the AWESOME is in Derby. For more than a decade, JJ Hooper has jumped on his bike and pedaled to emergency scenes to take pictures of firefighters and first responders in action for the Derby Fire Department. Recently, JJ got a pacemaker for a heart arrhythmia. That’s when the first responders, who usually take pictures, decided to help JJ. They wanted to raise money to get an E-bike for JJ and take the stress off pedaling, sometimes 30 miles to the scene of a fire. It took less than two weeks for the public to raise the money. The kindness of strangers and community support, THAT’S AWESOME.
