Today, I salute Army Veteran Jeremy Ramirez. While deployed to Iraq, Sgt. Ramirez’s unit was ambushed in Baghdad and struck by a 500-pound pressure plate IED. The explosion claimed the lives of four soldiers and left Sgt. Ramirez and five others were severely injured. As a result of the blast, Sgt. Ramirez is now a partial paraplegic. He lives with shrapnel throughout his body, metal hardware in his back, right leg, ankle, and foot, and suffers from PTSD. To support heroes like Sgt. Ramirez, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation provides mortgage-free smart homes or renovates existing homes through its Smart Home Program. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation welcomed Jeremy and his family back into their newly renovated home and surprised them by announcing the mortgage had been paid in full. Enjoy your newly renovated mortgage-free home, Jeremy, and THANK YOU for your service.
