Today, I salute Navy Veteran Greg Sanchez. Greg Sanchez was 19 when he signed up for boot camp at the Naval Station Great Lakes. And while he loved serving his country, he says the transition to civilian life was hard. Greg says that about a decade after his service, he struggled because he missed the camaraderie and the kinship, and eventually, he ended up in a tough spot. He found himself in Veterans treatment court, a specialized county court built on policies to help Veterans who had been arrested. He says it was an experience that saved his life, and now he is helping other Veterans. Greg is the assistant director for the Office of Military-Affiliated Communities at the University of Chicago, an academic program that helps veterans find tailored connections and opportunities. Thank you for helping other Veterans, Greg, and THANK YOU for your service.
