Today, the AWESOME is in Wichita. Amy Young is the Co-founder of the ‘Love Like Remi Foundation.’ A foundation that was created after Amy suffered the unimaginable pain of losing her daughter. Her daughter, Remi Hope Young, died by suicide in 2022, shortly after the ‘Love Like Remi Foundation’ was born. Amy says, “I don’t want my daughter to be the girl who took her life, I want her to be the person that saves them.” At a recent gala, tens of thousands of dollars were raised to put suicide prevention programs in as many schools as possible. There is still a lot of work to be done, but for now, the foundation has placed counselors in every elementary school in the Maize school district.
