Today, I salute Navy Veteran Joshua Zink. As a young man from Larned, he knew he wanted to join the Navy before he graduated high school. After joining in 1995, he trained to become an avionics technician, specializing in the repair and maintenance of the E-2 Hawkeye. With its abundance of avionics onboard and nicknamed ‘the eye in the sky’, Joshua was ready for the challenge. He took a break from the Navy to pursue an anthropology degree at Kansas State University. But he knew there would be a round two of serving his country, so he went on to officer candidate school and then to flight school. Joshua left the Navy in 2004 and transitioned to a career in the aviation industry, where he remains to this day, and he thanks his military service for what he learned, saying, “The military definitely provided skills that I wouldn’t have gathered any place else.” Thank you for sharing your story, Joshua, and THANK YOU for your service.
