Today, the AWESOME is in Fairfield, Connecticut. The Mombies are at it again. Each year, the “MOMbies” dress up as zombies for fun and do flash mob dances in their neighborhoods while raising funds and awareness for metastatic breast cancer research through the Cancer Couch Foundation. At first, the moms were getting together to surprise neighborhood kids, but when one of Terry Davis’ friends died of metastatic breast cancer, they turned it into a fundraiser. The MOMbies have collected more than $170,000 — and counting — in the last eight years. Every dollar contributed is matched by a private donor, and goes directly to research scientists at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Center in New York City and the Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. Turning Halloween fun into Halloween help, THAT’S AWESOME.
