Melinda Pereira, visits Echo Lake Park in Virginia a lot, as a place to relax and recharge, often walking a few loops during her lunch break or on her way to work. But on November 5, something didn’t feel right. “Just something felt off,” she recalled. Shortly after, she lost consciousness. The next thing Pereira remembers is waking up in the hospital, where doctors told her she had suffered cardiac arrest. First responders later explained that her life was saved thanks to the fast actions of a Good Samaritan who happened to be nearby. That guardian angel, Pereira was told, was a woman believed to be a nurse who immediately began CPR. Though Pereira never met her rescuer, doctors emphasized that the bystander’s quick response was critical. While her search continues and there is hope that one day she’ll be able to thank her guardian angel, she is alive to tell her story, and THAT’S AWESOME. !!
