If you’ve had it, you know, this flu season is no joke. It has been one of the worst in recent years, with 15 million cases. This season has seen at least 180,000 hospitalizations and 7,400 deaths, with 26 states reporting “very high” levels. Epidemiologists have blamed a new strain of influenza A H3N2—called subclade K—for the increase in cases.
The Golden Globes survived the night with no one falling down the stairs on the red carpet, Snoop Dogg presenting an award high AF, and a couple of uncomfortable jokes from host Nikki Glaser. When it was all over, “One Battle After Another” was the big winner on the movie side of the awards. Notable winners on the TV side were “The Pitt”, “Pluribus”, and the much talked about Netflix limited series “Adolescence.”
And Barbie is launching its first autistic doll to better represent how individuals with autism spectrum disorder experience the world around them. The doll, which is part of Barbie’s Fashionistas line, includes intentional design choices such as noise-canceling headphones, loose-fitting clothing, a tablet with augmentative and alternative apps, and flexible elbow and hand joints for stimming, which refers to repetitive body movements some people with autism engage in to process sensory information.
