Today, the awesome is in Chicago. Little Mia Dates is being hailed a hero after her quick thinking helped get her dad the medical attention he needed. Last week, Xavier Dates was at home with his daughter, Mia, enjoying a quiet evening. After checking on her upstairs, Dates headed back down the stairs. He slipped, fell down several steps, and hit his head on the wall. Mia immediately knew something wasn’t right. Seeing her dad on the ground and in pain, she grabbed his phone and called 911. Paramedics Kevin and Bianca Rosas were among the first to arrive and they were greeted by what they called a pretty scary dog. Despite all the stress and the chaos of the situation, Mia secured the family dog in its cage, found the keys, unlocked the door, and let the paramedics inside so they could reach her father without delay. The responders say her actions made a critical difference. Staying calm and being brave at the age of 7 to help her dad, THAT’S AWESOME.
