Jury selection begins today in a high-profile case against Meta, TikTok, and YouTube. A 19-year-old identified as KGM and her mom are suing the companies, alleging they designed their platforms to be addictive, fueling KGM’s mental health crisis. KGM says she began using social media at age 10, alleging “addictive design,” including frequent notifications, fostered her dependency on the platforms and contributed to her anxiety and depression.
Tax season officially started yesterday, and larger refunds are on the way. There are changes that go along with President Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill,” such as measures relating to tips and overtime, a hike in the maximum child tax credit, an increased cap for state and local tax deductions, and a bigger deduction for qualifying seniors. The Bank of America Institute projects a 26% boost to refunds thanks to the changes; however, not for everyone. Most of the larger refunds will be concentrated among middle- and higher-income filers.”
