Tomorrow marks the 1-year anniversary of the crash in Washington DC between a Blackhawk Army helicopter and American Airlines flight 5342. It was this country’s worst airline disaster in 2 decades. Yesterday, the National Transportation Safety Board determined the fault lay largely in the Federal Aviation Administration’s placement of a helicopter route in the approach path of a Ronald Reagan National Airport runway.
The sports world is scratching its head this morning after the NFL snubbed Patriots coaching great Bill Belichick, who won 8 Super Bowls, as a first-time ballot inductee into the NFL Hall of Fame. It was announced yesterday that he did not receive the required number of votes. It was also announced yesterday that Browns controversial QB, Shedeur Sanders, made the Pro Bowl roster. Maybe we are all living the 9th episode of “Stranger Things” that the internet wants. What is going on?
And this is not good news. The Doomsday Clock is ticking closer to midnight. The clock is widely recognized as an indicator of the world’s vulnerability to global human-made catastrophes. It has moved forward to 85 seconds before midnight or 85 seconds before armageddon. It’s the closest the clock has ever been to midnight since it was created in 1947.
