Today, the AWESOME is in Australia. A 13-year-old boy is being called a hero after doing something incredible to save the life of his mother and two siblings. What started as an adventure in the water south of Perth soon turned serious when they were all swept out to sea on their inflatable paddleboards and kayaks by strong winds. After paddling wasn’t working, the boy made the life-or-death decision to swim to shore in rough seas. He swam for 2 hours with a life jacket on and realized the life jacket was working against him, so he ditched it and swam 2 more hours without it until he reached shore and was able to get help. Rescuers found his family almost 9 miles offshore, clinging to life on their paddleboards. Rescueres called what the boy did, “super-human,” and THAT’S AWESOME.
