Today, I salute World War II Army Veteran Ray Curtis. Ray served five years, most of it in the United States, though he also spent part of his service overseas. He had various military jobs. For the first two months of his time in the Army, he was a clerk-typist and also served as a communications officer and an aircraft automatic-weapons unit commander. Overseas, he was an infantry unit commander. After his Army discharge, Curtis farmed the family farm for many years. After his wife Ellen died, he moved to a senior living home where he stays active, going to exercise class each morning, playing cards, and playing bingo. Ray is North Dakota’s oldest living Veteran and one of 11 oldest living Veterans in the United States. Today, Ray turns 109. Happy Birthday, Ray, and THANK YOU for your service.
