Today, I salute World War II Veteran from Vermont, George “Buddy” Taggart. 3 years ago, George was surprised by his local American Legion, who put together a ceremony for him so he could finally receive his long-overdue high school diploma. That moment was special, and last night he received another special honor from President Trump, who recognized George, one of about 35,000 World War II Veterans still alive. Oh, and his next special moment is coming later this year when George will turn 100 on America’s birthday, July 4th. Congratulations on the State of the Union honor you received, Buddy, and THANK YOU for your service.
