Today, I salute Topeka native and Air Force Veteran, Becki Cage. Becki joined the Air Force in 1979, specializing in mobile combat communications, helping counter terrorist activity. If something needed to be set up, Becki could do it, saying, “We could set up any type of fax, weather, teletype communications, phones, HF radio, satellites.” She was sent to Lindsey Air Station in Germany and joined a team pushing back against terrorism in both Europe and the Middle East. Cage’s team worked with every branch of the U.S. military and was thoroughly impressed by how well each branch cooperated. Cage left the Air Force as a sergeant in 1983 to be a mom. She eventually made her way to Wichita, where she’s found a second family in the Wichita Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is busy these days serving the community. Thank you for sharing your story, Becki, and THANK YOU for your service.
