Today, I salute Air Force Veteran Jason Nentwick. After serving in the Middle East, Jason faced the tough transition back to civilian life. To process his emotions, he penned “Heroes Don’t Come Home the Same,” a song that delves into the challenges veterans encounter post-service. Nentwick highlights the loss of camaraderie and the military’s emphasis on emotional suppression, which complicate reintegration. Sharing his song has resonated with many veterans, offering them a sense of understanding and connection. Currently studying social work at Eastern Kentucky University, Nentwick aspires to establish a nonprofit aimed at preventing veteran suicide and homelessness. Thank you for sharing your gift of song, Jason, and THANK YOU for your service.
