Today, I salute Navy Veteran Mike Shannon. The massive Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is back in action, and it’s not just about bulls, boots, and concerts. Behind the scenes, thousands of volunteers are making the 21-day event run smoothly for the more than 2 million fans who show up every year.

One of them is Navy veteran Mike Shannon, who’s been volunteering for nearly two decades. After serving in places like Bosnia and Mogadishu, Shannon was medically discharged and later lost both of his legs. Still, he hasn’t missed a single shift at the rodeo. For Shannon, giving back is everything—and seeing the rodeo raise millions for Texas youth scholarships makes every long day worth it. 🤠 Thank you for always helping Mike and THANK YOU for your service.
