Today, the AWESOME comes from North Carolina. Students graduating from North Carolina State University Wilson College of Textiles received a life-changing surprise during their May 8 commencement ceremony when businessman Anil Kochhar announced that he and his wife, Marilyn, would pay off all final-year student loans for the Class of 2026. The gift honors Anil’s late father, Prakash Chand Kochhar, who came from Punjab, India, to study textile manufacturing at NC State in 1946. The graduating class included more than 200 students. The announcement sparked cheers and tears as graduates realized they could begin their careers with less financial burden and greater freedom to pursue their goals, and THAT’S AWESOME!
