Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Army Veteran Timothy Yablonski. For 5 years Timothy suffered with liver cirrhosis, and he finally became eligible for transplant. It didn’t take long to find a match. As soon as he hit the transplant list, his step daughter Alyssa was one of the first to get tested. Even though he wasn’t her biological father, it turns out she was a perfect match. The surgery took place in March at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. I was the VA’s first living-donor liver transplant. Thank you Alyssa for your selfless gift and thank you Timothy for your service.
