Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Vietnam Veteran Ronald Hepper. Ronald, nick named “Cowboy” volunteered for the draft after high school and served in Vietnam with the Army’s 196th Light Infantry Brigade. On June 11th, 1969 Ronald’s boots were blown off his feet due to a grenade, the problem was that’s where he kept his dog tags. Ronald received the purple heart and has since passed away, his wife said he often wondered if anyone would find his dog tags. Well, turns out someone did and they were in Russia, and the other day North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum presented the dog tags to Ronald’s widow. THANK YOU Ronald for your service.
