Arrest made in south Wichita shooting

Police have a 21-year-old man in custody for a shooting incident in south Wichita.

The man is a suspect in a March 1st shooting incident in the 2900 block of East Timberlane, in a neighborhood southwest of the intersection of Pawnee and Hillside.  A 53-year-old man was shot during a disturbance, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police said the suspect was involved in a dispute with the 53-year-old man and a 26-year-old man inside a home.  The suspect and his 22-year-old girlfriend left but returned a short time later and another disturbance broke out.   The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired one shot, then he left with his girlfriend.

Police found the suspect in the 8300 block of East Kellogg on Thursday and he was arrested without incident.   The suspect was booked into jail for aggravated battery, and he also has an outstanding warrant and a parole violation from the Kansas Department of Corrections.
