WICHITA, Kan. - A Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy has been arrested in a domestic violence incident.
It happened Monday while the deputy was off duty at his home in the 2200 block of South Belmont. Wichita Police arrested him for domestic battery after being called to the house on the report of a disturbance.
During a news conference, Sheriff Jeff Easter identified the 29-year-old deputy as Vincent Folston. Easter said Folston is a patrol deputy who has been with the department for 2 and 1/2 years.
Easter says Folston is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The sheriff said he was releasing Folston's name because citizens who arrested do not have any protections from having their names released if they are arrested for a crime and says that same standard should apply to his department.
Wichita Police are conducting the investigation and there's no word yet if any formal charges will be filed in the case. The arrest has no connection to the arrest of a Wichita Police recruit Sunday for domestic violence.
