Wichita to close one golf course each week to cut costs

The city of Wichita will close one of its public golf courses each week over the next four months as a way to cut costs during the winter months.

Auburn Hills has been closed and will reopen on November 9th, then MacDonald Park will be closed the next week.   The Tex Consolver golf course will be closed for the week beginning November 16th.

Maintenance staff will continue to work on the grounds to make sure that staff will always be present at the golf courses.   The city’s golf division manager, Troy Hendricks, said in a press release that officials will watch the situation closely and take every step to maximize tee sheets and accommodate golfers all over the city.

The golf courses will close on a rotating basis to help the city’s golf division reduce expenses and keep the enterprise fund in good shape until the spring.   A list of the rotation is available on the web site www.golfwichita.com
