Local venues like Wave and organizers of the upcoming Dam Jam Music Festival are warning of scam websites that are charging higher prices for tickets to concerts and events in the Wichita area.
Wave has posted a notice on social media calling on patrons to avoid doing an internet search to find tickets, because the top results of the search lead to ticket scalping sites. C.J. Wilson with the Dam Jam concert said one site has been selling tickets for $265, when the official site is selling tickets for $150.
Patrons are urged to buy tickets through the official web sites of the concert or the venue that is hosting the concert. They’re also urged to double check the URL for the website and make sure it is the official website, and they should avoid any unofficial sites or platforms. People should also be wary of sellers who ask for direct money transfers, gift cards or credit card information over the phone.
