Wichita police are continuing to investigate two recent incidents of attacks on homeless people, but police chief Gordon Ramsay told city council members this week that there is no indication that this is becoming a pattern or trend in the city.

Police are still looking into the beating death of 59-year-old Bernard Woodard, who was found under a downtown bridge on February 10th.    They are also investigating an attack on a homeless man in mid-February near the Keeper of the Plains statue.  The attack involved several people, and it was shown on a video that was shared on social media.

Ramsay said it will take help from the public to solve both crimes, and “there are people who know what happened.”    He said while the two incidents are of great concern, he hasn’t seen anything over the past couple of years that would indicate a pattern or continuation of violence against homeless people.
