The Harvey County Commission voted to extend its local health order that limits mass gatherings to 10 people.
The Commission also serves as the local Board of Health and upon consulting with Public Health Officer Dr. Doyle Detweiler, voted to approve the extension on January 5th.
Disease spread, deaths, increased strain on regional hospital capacity, contact tracing along with case investigation were cited in the decision.
The order requires gatherings be limited to 10 people in instances where 6 feet of social distancing cannot be maintained. Occupancy is not limited within facilities, events, or venues provided 6 feet of distance can be maintained between groups at all times.
The order will remain in effect until it is rescinded.
There are currently 255 known active COVID-19 cases in Harvey County.
