The City of Wichita is looking for 38 employers to help with a summer jobs program for young people.

Mayor Brandon Whipple talked about the program during his weekly news conference at City Hall.   The Way to Work is a program that will look to hire 175 temporary or part-time workers for seasonal jobs.   Youngsters who participate in the program will have to be 14 to 17 years old by June 1st, and they will have to submit an application identifying previous work or volunteer experience, along with their future career goals.  There are other requirements for the program, and more information is available through the city’s Housing and Community Services department and through the city’s web page at wichita.gov

Mayor Whipple said the program goals are to bring positive work experiences to young people and teach them self-sufficiency skills, and the program is also aimed at meeting needs of the community.
