McConnell Air Force Base is getting ready for its Frontiers In Flight Open House and Airshow, which will be held September 24th and 25th.   The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The 2018 event had almost 100,000 visitors from Kansas and northern Oklahoma, and a similar turnout is expected this year.

The event will be headlines by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team, along with Misty Blues Skydiving, an all-female team.  Bill Stein Airshows will provide aerobatic demonstrations and Tom Larkin of Mini Jet Airshows will fly a SubSonex experimental jet.   There will also be a performance from the Commemorative Air Force’s Red Tail P-51 C Mustang, a restored aircraft that pays tribute to the history of the Tuskegee Airmen.

The schedule will also include the Tora Tora Tora air show that uses Japanese aircraft to recreate the Pearl Harbor attack from December 7th, 1941.   Randy Ball will perform aerial maneuvers in a MiG-17 aircraft.
