A south Wichita family was left homeless by a fire that destroyed their home late Sunday night.
The fire was reported around 10 p.m. in the 500 block of West Shirk Street, which is in a neighborhood northeast of the intersection of Harry and McLean. Crews saw flames coming from the back of a home when they arrived.
There were no reports of injuries. The home is a total loss and the cause is under investigation. The Red Cross was called to help the family that was displaced.
