Charges are being filed against the man who allegedly shot a Black teenager when he rang the wrong doorbell in Missouri.
Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson said two felony counts, including first-degree assault, were filed against a man identified as Andrew Lester, who is in his 80s. Thompson added there’s a “racial component to the case” but would not elaborate. Bond for Lester was set at $200,000.
Last week, 16-year-old Ralph Yarl went to pick up his siblings in Kansas City, but mistakenly went to the wrong house. Yarl is now recovering at home.
