A Wichita man has been sentenced to life in prison in a Wichita rape and kidnapping case from 2020.

Court officials said 30-year-old Gerardo Aguero-Hernandez was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after he was convicted of sexually assaulting an underage girl in late May of 2020.   He was convicted of rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and battery.    Police said the victim had run away from her foster home.

Police said the rape happened inside Aguero-Hernandez’s vehicle while it was parked near Arthur B. Sim Park.   The girl escaped and ran to get help.

Aguero-Hernandez will be eligible for parole in a little over 40 years.
