freeze-warning-2

A freeze warning was issued for much of south central and southeast Kansas for Sunday night, with temperatures expected to drop into the mid-to-upper 20s for overnight lows.

The warning will be in effect from midnight Sunday night until 10 a.m. Monday, and it includes the city of Wichita and Sedgwick County, along with Kingman, Harper, Sumner, Butler and Cowley counties.  The warning extends into southeast Kansas.

The National Weather Service says frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and it could damage outdoor plumbing.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect for central and some south central areas of the state Saturday evening into Sunday afternoon.  A mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected with a glaze of ice on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.

The advisory includes Reno, Harvey, McPherson, Marion and Chase counties.  It’s in effect from 7 Saturday evening until 1 Sunday afternoon.
