The Kansas City Chiefs have unveiled plans for a major renovation of Arrowhead Stadium and GEHA Field.

The renovation will enhance the tailgating experience with improved parking and activation areas, while inside the stadium there will be improvements across all three levels, offering an enhanced experience for fans.

The plans include a new turf-covered Activation Zone with tailgate areas and covered entertainment space built over the current site of Kauffman Stadium for gameday activations and year-round community opportunities.

A new Upper Concourse Connection Bridge will create 360-degree wrap-around connectivity for fans on the upper concourse as well as additional space for new food and beverage points of sale.

The plans also include new video boards and new LED ribbon boards for messaging, there will be new end zone clubs and suites, new concession stands, retail spaces and restrooms, and new pedestrian bridges, among other enhancements.

The plans were unveiled as Jackson County, Missouri gets ready for a special election on a sales tax to support a new stadium complex for the Kansas City Royals and the Arrowhead renovations.

The renovations will cost $800 million, and Chiefs Chairman and CEO Mark Hunt said the Hunt family would contribute $300 million, also covering any cost overruns.   If the project is allowed to move forward, the renovations would not begin until 2027, after the stadium hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The project would be completed in 2030 or 2031.
