Former Wichita City Council member Greg Ferris has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Sedgwick County Commission.
Ferris will be running for the Republican nomination for the District 3 seat in western Sedgwick County. The seat is now held by David Dennis, who has announced that he will not be seeking another term.
Ferris served 12 years on the Wichita City Council and after his term expired, he started a consulting firm in 1999. He said he wants to work for common sense leadership with a commitment to reduced property tax growth through efficient county spending. He said he also wants to extend the Kellogg Freeway project west of Maize Road.
Stephanie Wise of Wichita has also filed as a Republican candidate in District 3. She is a commercial real estate executive who is running on a platform of limited government, lower taxes and protection of property rights.
