Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors an Air Force Veteran and the great news he received the other day. The unidentified Veteran, who served in Thailand from 1973-1975, purchased a Rolex while he was there to use for scuba diving. The watch cost him $345.97, which was a steep price to pay on a military salary of $300-$400 a month back then. Once he received it, he looked at it and thought it was too nice to take diving so he put it in a safety deposit box for 40 years. Well, recently he took it to the Antiques Road Show to have it appraised. That’s where he got the shock of his life when he was told the watch was worth $700,000. Congratulations on your windfall and thank you for your service.
