Wichita teens volunteering over spring break

United Way’s 27th annual Youth Days of Caring event is only a few weeks away.

This gives teens around Wichita a chance to be part of several volunteer projects over spring break. This year’s dates are March 16-20, and volunteer opportunities include building a house, painting a mural, working with animals, and cleanup projects.

“Much has been written that the popularity of technology like Instagram and Twitter is stunting the ability of today’s youth to develop face-to-face social skills. Youth Days of Caring is a great way to counteract that trend,” said Patrick J. Hanrahan, United Way of the Plains president and CEO. “Your child will help people, meet students in their age group and just plain have some fun too.”

This is geared toward middle school and high school students, at least 12-years-old. Sign-up runs through March 10. Sign-up and volunteer details are below.
