Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of 5-year-old girl early Sunday.
The crash was reported around 3:15 a.m. at 47th Street South and 127th Street East. Deputies said a 26-year-old woman was driving west when her SUV went off the road and hit a concrete culvert.
The girl, 5-year-old Aleah Reyes, was a passenger in the SUV and she was given medical treatment by EMS crews, but she was pronounced dead at 3:39 a.m.
The driver had minor injuries and an investigation determined that alcohol may have contributed to the accident. The driver was booked into jail for involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence and transporting an open container of an alcoholic beverage.
